Reconciliation Week

Reconciliation Week - Friday 29th May

We had a lovely Friday morning, acknowledging Reconciliation Week in our multi-age activity groups. Students shared an indigenous story together and played traditional indigenous games such as ‘Emu’, ‘Nanyima’ and ‘Edor’.

They created an emu caller each, decorated with traditional aboriginal symbols. Earlier in the year, Koorie Engagement Support Officer, Tammy, showed us a real wooden emu caller and showed us how they were used to call an emu away from its eggs, so they could be gathered safely as food.
Our Senior SRC also spoke at the start of the morning explaining the significance of Reconcilation Week and the meaning behind this year’s theme, ‘All In’. You can see a selection of our emu callers on display in the office underneath our Reconciliation Wreath.
