Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we live, learn and play.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we live, learn and play. We acknowledge and show our respects to elders both past and present and we come together on the lands, the hills, the valleys and rivers to join in community, to share knowledge and culture and contributions of all first nation peoples on this land.

Reconciliation Week, the theme is "Now More Than Even".
We held a whole school activity beginning with the SRC explaining the significance of the week. We then split up into our multi-age activity groups, listened to an Indigenous story with our group teacher and created an artwork to tell a story on a gum leaf using traditional Aboriginal symbols.
The gum leaves were collected from our school grounds and arranged together to create a whole school wreath to symbolise our unity and shared commitment to reconciliation.

The "wreath" can be found in the Office at Kiewa Valley Primary School.
